Use Software Update
- Device is a Fugoo Remote connecting via BLE to a Fugoo Tough speaker (which I recommend a lot if you are practicing sport such as snowboard or wakeboard, it is a fully waterproof and shockproof device, love it for many years now). I've already done a MITM attack with GATTacker on it to understand how the remote communicate with the speaker.
- The System Information window is a handy tool for investigating hardware connections, software specs, and other basic information on your mac. In audio production, we like to use this menu for checking that our devices are connected and communicating with the rest of the system.
- MAC: With the Updater Utility, click the “Leave current firmware unchanged” choice and choose from the dropdown “Choose a firmware file”, then browse to your Downloads folder, and select the Fugoo Speaker firmware file (the filename ends in.dfu).

- Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates.
- If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click “More info” to see details about each update and select specific updates to install. You might be asked to enter your administrator password.
- When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, Music, Photos, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, and FaceTime.
- To automatically install future updates, including for apps that you got from the App Store, select “Automatically keep my Mac up to date.” Your Mac will notify you when updates require it to restart, so you can always choose to install those later.
The speaker may require a new firmware update. Visit Fugoo's website to update the firmware. Speaker Requires A Reset. If firmware is updated and the speaker continues to not produce sound when connected to an external device then resetting the speaker may be necessary. Resetting is done by holding the bluetooth and action (O) buttons for ten.
